The English folk song has a central place in the repertoire of the concert band.  Composers like Ralph Vaughan Williams and Gustav Holst drew a great deal of  inspiration from the folk song traditions of the British Isles.  English Tune is based on the minor tonality and easily flowing melodies common in English folk songs, even though it is an original composition. It is a  hommage to the simple roots of the modern band repertoire. Difficulty grade 3.
