This Caribbean-flavored piece features simple eighthnote and quarternote rhythms, and the bare minimum of melodic and harmonic material. This makes Catalina Bay easily accessible for young musicians just starting out on their instruments. The flexible scoring gives the conductor the means of distributing parts according to the ensembles strengths and instrumentation.
All beginning band pieces are scored as four-part flexible arrangements with percussion. Each instrument gets a melody and a harmony part. The conductor can assign parts to fit the particular instrumentation and strengths of the ensemble. Custom scoring to fit a particular instrumentation is available.
